Aspirin Tablets BP 300mg contain the following active ingredient:

Aspirin BP

In addition, they also contain the following inactive ingredients:

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ASPIRIN TABLETS BP 300mg

Please read this leaflet carefully before you start to use this product. If you have any questions or are unsure about anything, ask your Doctor or Pharmacist.

The product is available in pack sizes of 25, 50, 100 or 1000 tablets.

USES

For the relief of pain in headache, period pain and the symptomatic relief of colds, flu and feverishness.

BEFORE USING ASPIRIN TABLETS BP 300mg

The following information should be read before using this medicine:

1.    Do not use this product if you are sensitive to Aspirin or any of the ingredients listed at the beginning of this leaflet.

2.    Make sure Aspirin Tablets BP 300mg are suitable for you to use - ask your doctor or pharmacist.

3.    There is a possible association between aspirin and Reye’ Syndrome when given to children. Reye’s Syndrome is a very rare disease, which can be fatal. For

this reason aspirin should not be given to children aged under 16 years, unless on the advice of a doctor.

4.    Do not take this medicine if you are already undergoing treatment with any of the following:

a.    Antacid or absorbent preparations for indigestion or heartburn.

b.    An anticoagulant for thinning the blood e.g. Warfarin.

c.    any product to control epilepsy e.g. Phenytoin or Sodium Valproate

d.    a cytotoxic preparation (e.g. Methotrexate) for treatment of a tumour.

e.    A diuretic preparation (e.g. Spironolactone, Acetazolamidc) to control the accumulation of fluid in the body tissue (oedema).

f.    Domperidone or Metoclopramide

g.    Probenecid or Sulphinpyrazone.

If you are in any doubt, consult your doctor first.

5.    Do not take alcohol with this medicine.

6.    Use with caution in pregnancy, especially in the first three months. Do not use if you are breastfeeding.

7.    Aspirin is contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulceration or a history of peptic ulceration.

8.    If symptoms persist for more than three days, consult your doctor.

9.    Do not take if you suffer from haemophilia, or any other bleeding disorder.

WARNING. DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED DOSE


DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Adults, the elderly & children over 16 years

Take one to three tablets every 4 hours as required. Do not take more than 12 tablets per day. Children under 16 years

Do not give to children aged under 16 years, unless on the advice of a doctor.

Overdose

In the event of accidental or deliberate overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS

The following undesirable effects have been reported following use of this product:

1.    Stomach disturbances such as feeling sick, indigestion, vomiting

2.    Aspirin may precipitate bronchospasm and induce asthma attacks or other hypersensitivity reactions in susceptible individuals.

3.    Irritation of the stomach lining, leading to ulceration, bleeding

4.    Slight blood loss, resulting in anaemia

5.    Prolonged bleeding following injury.

If you experience any such reaction, or any other form of reaction not mentioned above, the please report this to your doctor or pharmacist who will advise you on the necessary action to take.

STORING THIS PRODUCT

This product has a three year shelf life, its expiry date is given on the label.

Do not use Aspirin Tablets BP 300mg after the expiry date shown on the carton. Aspirin Tablets BP 300mg should be stored out of the reach of children.
