5. HOW TO STORE PHYTEX

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not store above 25*C. Keep boltle tightly closed. Do not use Phytex after the expiry dale which is stated on the bottle label and carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Do not use if this product has deteriorated in any way. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required.

A clear, pale straw-coloured liquid presented in a 25ml glass bottle with a brush applicator attached to the screw cap.

Your medicine is called Phytex Paint Cutaneous Solution (referred to in this leaflet as Phytex).

It is used to treat fungal and yeast (Candida) infections of the skin and nails. These include infection of the nail folds with yeasts (chronic paronychia) and athlete's foot (tinea pedis). Athlete's foot is a fungal infection between the toes, which may spread over the underside of the foot, and can cause unpleasant itching.

Phytex belongs to a group of medicines called Antiseptics and Disinfectants’ and contains the active ingredients tannic acid, boric acid, salicylic acid and methyl salicylate. The tannic acid and boric acid prevent fungal or bacterial growth. The salicylic acid has antifungal effects and helps penetration of the ingredients into the nail and skin. Methyl salicylate may ease any irritation of the skin.

2. BEFORE YOU USE PHYTEX

Do not use Phytex and speak to your chiropodist or doctor If:

•    You are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients (refer to Section 6).

•    You are pregnant or breast-feeding.

•    The patient is under 5 years old.

•    You have broken skin in the treatment area.

Take special care with Phytex, and speak to your chiropodist or doctor before use if:

•    You have poor circulation or diseases due to poor blood flow, such as chilblains or arteriosclerosis.

•    You have diabetes.

Always use Phytex exactly as instructed below. You should check with your pharmacist, chiropodist or doctor if you are not sure.

Warnings and Precautions:

•    For external use on nail areas and feet only If Phytex is accidentally swallowed, contact a doctor immediately.

•    Phytex is flammable, so keep away from heat and naked flames.

•    Phytex may stain clothing, carpets, baths etc. When applying Phytex protect clothing and surfaces with a piece of old towelling.

Application:

•    Important: read 'Section 2' and Section 3 "Warnings and Precautions' before use.

•    Phytex should be painted onto the affected areas (nails and feet only) using the brush provided.

•    Use morning, evening and after washing, and allow to dry naturally.

•    Do not use for longer than 10 days without consulting a doctor.

Like all medicines, as well as benefits, Phytex can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

A slight stinging may be experienced when Phytex is firs! applied to the treatment area, but this will not last long. Phytex may also cause some dryness of the skin.

If you experience an allergic reaction, such as a rash or irritation, stop use and consult a doctor or chiropodist If any side effect becomes more serious, or if you notice any side effect not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor.
