1. What Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages are and what they are used for

Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages are sterile dressings impregnated with a paste containing Zinc oxide, which has astringent (tissue-tightening) properties. Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandage also works by providing physical support and protection, and by maintaining moistness, which aids wound healing.

Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages are used for the treatment of venous ulcers.

2. Before you use Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages

Do not use Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages:

•    If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Zinc oxide, or to any of the other ingredients listed in section 6 of this leaflet.

•    If you have a skin condition caused by severe eczema, symptoms of which include itching, reddening, swelling, blistering and weeping of the skin; unless you are advised to use Steripaste by a doctor.

- If you are not sure if any of the above apply to you, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Steripaste.

Take special care with Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages

• Tell a doctor or pharmacist if your skin is very soft, damaged or weeping.

> If you have a leg ulcer, your doctor will need to test you to see if Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandage is a suitable treatment for you.

Using other medicines

Consult a doctor or pharmacist before you use any other medicine on the skin under the Steripaste bandage. Please tell your doctor if you are taking, or have recently taken, any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Steripaste is safe to use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, but you should always ask a doctor or pharmacist before using any medicine.

Driving and using machines

The use of this product should not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.

3. How to use Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages

For topical use on the skin only.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for instructions on how to put on a Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandage before you use it, and for advice on how often to change it.

When applying Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages to the leg, follow the instructions given with the diagrams below and then wash your after use:

3. Make a final return around the foot and onto the ankle. Fold the bandage behind the ankle bone and turn back in the opposite direction.

If you accidentally swallow some of the Steripaste paste

If, after applying a Steripaste bandage, you accidentally swallow some of the paste that has got onto on your fingers, you should contact your doctor immediately or go to the casualty department of your nearest hospital. Take this leaflet and any packaging you have with you to show what you have taken

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Steripaste can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If you notice any of the following, stop using Steripaste and tell your

doctor immediately or go to the casualty department of your nearest hospital:

- An allergic reaction. The signs of an allergic reaction include a rash, itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing and swelling of the face, lips, mouth or tongue.

If you notice any of the above or any other side effect not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5. How to store Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not use Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages after the expiry date which is printed on the carton and pouch label.The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Do not store the product above 25°C.

Store in a dry place.

Do not use Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages if you notice any damage to the foil pouch.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages contain:

• The active ingredient is Zinc oxide BP 15% w/w. (Each gram of paste on the bandage contains 150mg of Zinc oxide.)

• The other ingredients are: Glycerol (E422), Fractionated coconut oil, Aluminium magnesium silicate, Xanthan gum (E415), Polysorbate 80 (E433), Sorbitan mono-oleate (E494), Synthetic spermacetti and Purified water. The bandage material is made from cotton.

What Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages look like; and contents of the pack

Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandage is an open-wove bleached cotton bandage impregnated with a white paste.

Steripaste Medicated Paste Bandages are sold individually, wrapped in waxed paper, sealed in a laminated foil pouch and presented in an outer cardboard carton.
